Licensing and Education

The MCRC has a long history of educating adults and children in Amateur Radio. Most recently, we have been able to secure some time and space in libraries in the Downriver area. Our current classes include a Technicians Licensing class and a course on Basic Electronics and Soldering.

Technicians Licensing Classes

Getting stated with Amateur Radio has never been Easier. Using The “No-Nonsense Technician Class License Study Guide” by Dan Romanchick, KB6NU for tests given after July 1, 2014. This comprehensive 10 week course, taught by licensed Amateur Radio operators,  will give you everything you need to get your license and get started in the world of Ham Radio. 
Courses are held on Saturday mornings at the Bacon Memorial Library in Wyandotte.

Basic Electronics and Soldering

Decode the mystery of the electron. Join the MCRC education team and get started learning the principals of electrons and safe soldering. Students will build a QRP CW transmitter (Low power Morse code) and through the process learn more about electronics, radio waves, and how to solder. 

Students must either have their Amateur Radio License, or be attending the Saturday morning Amateur Radio Licensing class. 

Courses are held on Saturday mornings at the Bacon Memorial Library in Wyandotte.
